RIDDOR, which stands for the Reporting of Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations 2013, is a UK Health & Safety law that requires employers, the self-employed, and those responsible for work premises to report certain work-related incidents to the Health and Safety Executive (HSE). The primary purpose of RIDDOR regulations is to facilitate enforcing authorities to highlight where and how risks occur, as well as investigating serious accidents to mitigate or eradicate repeat occurrences. Not all incidents require reporting, just those that meet specific criteria. RIDDOR reportable incidents include work-related deaths (excluding suicides), specified injuries to workers, over seven-day incapacitation to workers, non-fatal injuries to non-workers, occupational diseases, dangerous occurrences, and gas incidents. The ‘responsible person’ must report the incident and must do so via the online form through the Health and Safety Executive.
